"Quiet and Peaceful During Non-Rush Hours But City Politics Over the People As Usual"

Linda Vista Ave gets a lot of traffic especially during rush hour. During bad weather you will see accidents along one of its poorly constructed curves (car flips, cars in poles, cars in peoples front lawns). Against the wish of many of its citizens that live on the street the local board will be adding sidwalks to one side of the street sometime in 2007 (the side that the accidents happen on ironic?). The city really should have used that money to fix the poorly designed steep turn that causes so many accidents.

Further more the addition of sidewalks imo will make this neighborhood more prone to crime since it will be easier for criminals to stake out houses etc. The lack of side walks helped filter out pedestrian traffic which added to the neighborhoods quietness.

North Haledon is a normally a quiet low crime town which is great. Water system in this town is bad. Water from the faucet at times carries a very unpleasant odor to it and pressure is also an issue at times. Town offers free spring water by city hall to its residents to compensate. How clean the spring water is, is unknown to me.

Town taxes also continue to rise. Local school is now being built to offset cost of town having to outsource kids to other school systems. Mind you North Haledon is a mixed community and I would say most people who live here don't have kids in school anymore but now are being made to pay more taxes. In 2006 residents vetoed the new school system twice from what I recall. Board then went to the state to get more funds and eventually pushed the agenda thru again.
