Little Village is certainly heavily Hispanic, but overall it's pretty nice. The Hispanic community is quite proud and very nice in my experience. Crime isn't too bad, though maybe a bit higher than some other parts of Chicago. I don't think you'll run into many problems and the homes/rentals are pretty reasonably priced.

Little Village is considered the most Mexican influenced of all the Chicago neighborhoods. There are a lot of really great Mexican restaurants. In September there is a huge parade to celebrate Mexican Independence Day. Spanish is spoken in this neighborhood more than English and you will find Mexican flags everywhere. Lots of young families have started moving into the area as well due to the affordability of nice homes.
