Here are just a few things to do in Littleton:
1. Visit Historic Downtown Littleton! With it's cute stores and many restaurants, this is a favorite spot for not just tourists, but for locals. It's easy to find the stores along Main Street, but be sure not to miss the shops and restaurants located on Alamo (the one way street that runs east) and those on the side streets.
2. Hudson Gardens located at 6115 S. Santa Fe Drive. Hudson Gardens is a 30 acre botanical gardens center that not only offers a walking tour through the gardens, but also hosts concerts and educational opportunities including gardening, beekeeping, trees and birds. This is a non-profit and currently, admission is free.
3. Roxborough State Park and Waterton Canyon - Offers beautiful places to hike, see wildlife and enjoy an afternoon.
4. Littleton Historical Museum - Located at 6028 S. Gallup Street, the Littleton Historical Museum is an old homestead/farm surrounded by neighborhoods and parks. There are farm animals, old buildings and even a blacksmith. Learn about farm life in the earlier days. This is an interactive museum fun for both kids and adults.
5. The Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield - A great place to view birds, this is also a working farm. It is also well-known for the Corn Maze in the fall and offers a serene setting.
6. Clement Park - An all-inclusive park featuring three playgrounds, a skate park, multiple athletic fields, tennis courts, a horseshoe pit, picnic pavilions, and a lake. There are beautiful views of the foothills from this park and there is a concrete path that surrounds the lake. Many people walk, ride bikes, and roller blade around the lake. The lake is open for fishing (with a permit) and the children love to feed the ducks. Believe it or not, I have actually seen a pelican a few times on this lake. You can also visit the Columbine Memorial located in the park adjacent to Columbine High School. Additionally, Clement Park hosts a variety of concerts and events.
7. The South Platte Park - Located along the South Platte River, here you will find hiking trails, five lakes (open to fishing), and over 300 species of wildlife. There is also a nature center.
8. Water fun - For water fun in the summer, check out Pirate's Cove Water Park. For year round water fun, the Buck Rec Center offers a fun pool for the kids, plus a lap pool and a therapy pool. The Ridge Rec Center also is a favorite.
9. Golf - For the golfer, there are many golf courses located in/around Littleton.
10. The Danny Dietz Memorial - a tribute to Danny Dietz, a graduate of Heritage High School in Littleton and a Navy Seal killed while on a mission in Afghanistan. He was awarded the "Navy Cross", the second highest award for valor in the United States.
