"Steam Trains and a Great View"
This little offshoot of Grizzly Peak is not very long but has lots to offer. Right when you come off of Grizzly Peak you will find the Steam Trains. If you have kid that is that Thomas Train age this is a great place to go, ride the trains, have a picnic, even good for a birthday party. It is usually pretty crowded on the weekends, but Fridays its usually not that bad. The tracks take you through redwood groves and you get great views of the North Bay from spots. There are also little model towns and such. Great fun.
When your done with the trains there are lots of nature areas to hike in. Its part of Tilden Park so there are lots of great trails.
If you follow the road down a little bit you will find the stables and the one road on this road as it starts to take a steep descent into Orinda. Right by the stables you will see a home (partially hidden by a row of Redwoods) and next to that you will have field that have horses (of course) as you would expect, but also lamas and peococks.
Not to mention you have the closes thing to an arial view of Orinda and valley east of the Contra Costas that you can get. You can see all the way down to the Reservoir and the greens fo the Orinda Country Club and as far as Mt. Diablo. Definitely worth it for the visit.
At night and early morning though, the fog is as thick as pea soup, so go on a clear warm day.
