"Scenic Foothill Road"
The eastern foothills of San Jose are a beautiful area at the base of Alum Rock Park. As a small, residential side street, Camino Vista Way is no exception. While real estate here is not exactly cheap, it is certainly more reasonable than the western foothill towns of Saratoga and Los Gatos, for a comparably similar experience. The weather is warm, the houses are large, and the parks are scenic.
The downsides of living here, of course, have to do with location. Any area that has the words "east" and "San Jose" in the same sentence is bound to be near some questionable neighborhoods, and given that this is a nicer neighborhood next to a poorer neighborhood, the houses kind of have a proverbial target on their back. Additionally, this neighborhood is a bit of a drive to downtown, especially when rush hour traffic is prevalent. But if you are looking for a nice house in a foothill area in Silicon Valley, this may be one of the best values out there.
