"Monte Malaga - A Wonderful Place to Live"

Monte Malaga is a wonderful area of Palos Verdes Estates . It is a hilly area above both Malaga Cove and Lunada Bay with many of the homes having spectacular views. The homes tend to be either ranch style or Mediterranean style homes , many with tile roofs. It is relatively centrally located on the Palos Verdes Peninsula , and although it has no local shopping plaza in the immediate area, it has easy access to shopping in the Peninsula Center area of the Hill. The High Schools and Intermediate schools are about a 5 minute drive, and the local elementary school, Monte Malaga elementary, is centrally located for easy access. The schools are among the best in the State.

The City of Palos Verdes Estates has its own police department making for very quick response times in case of a problem. This area is one of the safest areas to live in Southern California as its somewhat remote location and confusing road layout make it difficult for unwanted visitors to find the area.

There are no real parks in the area making the local elementary school the only real place for kids to play. There are very nice regional parks, however, in adjacent Rancho Palos Verdes, such as Hess park and Ryan Park, as well as Ernie Howlett park in Rolling Hills Estates.

Although there is no immediate access to shopping, both community and Regional shopping centers are located a quick drive in the center of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. This is definitely a bedroom community.
Pros
  • Clean and safe
  • Great schools
  • Ocean views

"Monte Malaga -- Great weather, great schools."

Monte Malaga is one of the most sought after neighborhoods in the city of Palos Verdes Estates which is located on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Los Angeles County. The Monte Malaga area is on the northwest section of Palos Verdes; therefore, it’s convenient for schools and shopping at the Peninsula Center or the mall. At 1,380 feet, Monte Malaga has the highest elevation in Palos Verdes. The home lots in this area are typically among the largest in Palos Verdes Estates. Home prices range between $950,000 and $10,500,000. The median home price is around $1.3 million.

The elementary school for this neighborhood is Monte Malaga Elementary. The schools on the Peninsula are top notch and rank as some of the best schools in the nation. Students in intermediate school attend Palos Verdes Intermediate School. High school students have a choice between two equally great high schools: Palos Verdes High School or Peninsula High School. The Palos Verdes Unified School District (PVPUSD) oversees the schools on the Peninsula.

The weather in Monte Malaga is great. Not too hot in the summer, not too cold in the winter. This area also has less fog then e.g. the Lunada Bay area of Palos Verdes. Monte Malaga offers more of a country atmosphere, rather than the feel of a city outside Los Angeles. Some of the homes in Monte Malaga have stunning ocean views.

Monte Malaga is great for families. Since the area is fairly small, many children are able to walk to school.
