Is Near West Side in Chicago a good place to live for families with kids?

Not really. I don't think of the Near West Side when I consider family-friendly neighborhoods. It's certainly safe and very nice, but it's a bit pricy, and the schools are okay, but it's pretty young and more of a place for singles and young professionals. A family could certainly live here and be happy, but I'd suggest other neighborhoods over the Near West Side.
