walk from union station to halstead safely

I go to the University of Illinois-Chicago, and I asked one of the police officers on campus it it was fine to walk from Campus to Union at Night via Halstead.

I usually do the walk, but because it has been so cold, I have been taking the bus.

I can't comment for the specific area you are looking at, but I personally think it is ok. Late at night/early in the morning though I would be more inclined to take a bus , drive or a cab.

Normal rules apply in any city every time of the day- No flashing of valuables, dont act like an idiot, etc etc
