"Surprisingly nice for proximity to freeway"
North 28th Drive runs parallel to the I-17 and is approximately .5 mile from the freeway. This review focuses on the area near and north of metrocenter Mall (Northern to Thunderbird) It is quiet, the sound of traffic is distant, makes for easy commuting to have a main freeway so close. Metrocenter mall is the only shopping in the direct neighborhood, but Arrowhead Mall is only about 6 miles to the east. There are running paths around the lakes in the neighborhood, parks within walking distance and Rose Mofford Sports Complex is only about 2 miles away, there they have football and softball fields, a large dog park and running paths along the canal. There are moany restuarants in the area as well, Red Lobster, Chilis, Olive Garden, Sweet Tomatoes, Outback Steakhouse and Souper Salad. I don't have children myself, but I know there are nearby elementary and high schools as well as a major police precinct within about 1 mile. I lived in this area about 2 years and never had any problems whatsoever, many of the residents in the area are older, not a lot of children. Many people have small dogs, and there is an active attempt to keep ferrel cats from running around, so people who have pet cats should keep them indoors..;;The lakes in the area are my favorite feature of this area, it seems to make the summer temperatures a little cooler having large bodies of water so nearby. The Metrocenter mall has had a problem with vehicle theft in the last fe years, so if you visit the mall, don't leave valuables and lock it up!
