"Coming back around"
Fairfax isn't a street I'd ever live on -- or even off of for that matter. I was never a fan of Fairfax. I think it's slow and kind of scuzzy or run down. Even though it has the same amount of lanes as La Cienega or La Brea, it just moves so much slower than the other streets. A lot of the buildings are pretty run down too. The whole Fairfax area is just pretty undesirable, in my opinion. But, renting in that area isn't really any less expensive. It makes no sense to me.
On top of the area being ugly there isn't really much to do. There's Canter's Deli and the Kibbitz Room but both of those are pretty depressing to me. I know Canter's is supposed to be a great deli and it has been around forever, but I just haven't ever been a fan. Fairfax area has been a very Jewish neighborhood for some time so there are a lot of Jewish establishments in the hood.
The one redemption that Fairfax has is the Grove. The Grove, to me, is like Disneyland for adults. It's kind of spectacular as far as malls go. I think because of this mall, the surrounding area is starting to pick up quite a bit. But, Fairfax area is the slowest to hop on the train for some reason.
There's really not a lot of restaurants or bars on Fairfax, there aren't any shops save the Grove and the traffic is always awful. Just not a huge fan.
