"Vermont Ave in Los Feliz is awesome!"
Vermont is a pretty long street (it spans a huge portion of Los Angeles) but just about the only place that Vermont Ave is cool. But, I think it makes up for the rest of the Avenue in this one little area. There are a million restaurants and cool little stores in the Los Feliz part of Vermont. There's a really old movie theatre on Vermont that I love. It's really tiny and definitely old school. Apparently, the theatre has some sort of Mommy and me day during the week -- women can bring their babies in for a screening of some Barney thing or other. It sounds a little weird to me but my friends with kids seem to like it.
Across the street from the theatre is a diner called Fred 62. Fred 62 is open 24 hours (which is a rarity in Los Angeles) and the breakfast food is pretty killer. They're hunka hunka burnin love pancakes are out of this world. You can have a heart attack just looking at those beauties. The place is always pretty crowded and it's definitely a hipster hangout. But, the 24 hour thing is so nice after a boozey night out. Next door to Fred 62, however, is the best part about Vermont: Palermo! I am obsessed with this restaurant. It is what I call a "dirty" Italian place. The waiters are all old and Italian. And, the Sicilian Pizza! I have dreams about this pizza. I have frequent dreams about this pizza. The staff is so friendly and the tables have the checkered table cloths for crying out loud! And, it's dirt cheap here. It's a must, seriously.
House of Pies is ok for a diner diner. A lot of my friends like this place but I'm not a huge fan. I'd rather go to Fred if that's the kind of food I want. Moustache cafe is really cute but the food's not out of this world. Although the ambience is so great, I would recommend going there. There are some novelty shops lining the street and it's just really cute. It reminds me of Larchmont a little bit -- well, the hipster Larchmont.
