"Nature in the City!"
Many parks are intended to provide respite from their respective city by creating a small green oasis surrounded by buildings. Glen Canyon Park is one of the parks that truly does its job. Sure, the park is filled with the urban standards - joggers, dog walkers and families with children all looking to get out. But the park is also great for hikers, mountain bikers and even rock climbers! All of these activities are available in abundance, and the views at the top of the hill of the rest of the city are absolutely stunning.
For those who wish to remain closer to their city roots but still want to be active, there is a gym with tennis courts and full indoor facilities available as well.
Best of all, the proximity to the BART/Muni system makes the park accessible to everyone, not just those who live close by. It really fulfills a need for those who live in the southern part of the city. And commuters with their vehicles will be happy to know that nearby street parking is generally available. This is really everyone's park.
