"Right through the heart of Downtown San Francisco"

Pine Street runs towards the Richmond District and along side of California Street. Pine Street is on a hill for a majority of its road. This street is heavy with cars and traffic because it is one of the main roads used to get back to the Richmond District and/or Sunset District from the Downtown area, at least that is how I get back when I’m in a car. Near Market Street or on the Downtown side of Pine Street, the street is just filled with businesses and some department stores and such. The street runs through several traffic-heavy streets, so be prepared to wait in traffic for al little. There are some places to eat and get coffee on Pine Street as well.

"a business street."

Pine Street is a bustling street in the heart of downtown, but the people on these streets will probably be businessmen and women. There are not many tourist attractions on this street since this is mostly centered for business buildings. The shops here cater to the needs of these business professionals, including banks, 24-Hour Fitness gyms, small sandwich and soup shops, coffee shops, and fast food restaurants. The busiest hours will be in the morning around 8-9 a.m., and in the early evening around 5-7 p.m. Once you get past these hours, the street will be pretty quiet and deserted. However, it is fairly well-lit so no need to fear.

"Nice residential neighborhood, great place to stay!"

We stayed on Pine Street at the Grosvenor Suites, and although there are a lot of hotels (The Mark Hopkins is across the street), we actually had a sense of community because we got to know some of the neighbors walking their dogs. It is very residential as well as business-oriented. From Pine, it is a short walk to several trolley lines and a great location to a lot of the SF attractions, like Chinatown.

"great place for active people who dont mind noise"

i really enjoyed living on this street for a couple of years because it was residential where i lived but downtown was walking distance and just about every thing was a few blocks away
a giant movie theater,a fitness gym, a shopping fiesta in downtown and a hospital all within a few blocks but its not the safest area around polk/pine area as a matter of fact there is always glass on the road if you know what i mean so i woulnt park my car overnight but after dark it gets pretty lonely so you might not want to be alone in some of the areas over all this street is very diverse and has tons of restraints and public transportation goes to every block and for the most part this is a good street to live on.

"Awesome Location"

The crackies don't seem to make it up the hill to Pine St. They don't even seem to make it past Sutter St. actually. Basically, I can walk around outside at 2am without worrying about my safety. If you have a car, I would not park it on the street though. Even though I never see sketchy people out and about, car windows seem to be shattered on a daily basis. Having a MUNI FastPass will make your life a lot easier especially if you don't like walking up mega hills. The neighborhood seems to consist of mostly art students and tourists. Highly recommended for single 20-30 somethings who like to be smack dab in the middle of all the action.
