"Nice location, noisy"
Positives: The southeastern end of Quaker Meetinghouse Road in Forestdale/Sandwich is a great location to live. The "Triangle" of QMR, Cotuit, and HWY 130 has all of the day-to-day shopping needs. You are minutes from HWY 6 exits 2 & 3, so getting off or down cape is easy when traffic is not backed up. It is about a 10 min drive to good shopping and dining at Mashpee Commons, 10 min north are downtown Sandwich and beaches.
There is a great freshwater beach at Peters pond, a short walk, between 130 and Cotuit. There is a nice park a few minutes south on Hwy 130.
Minuses: There is a lot of noisy traffic all year long, very bad in the summer. Just south on 130 is a gravel pit and the trucks go by very often and engine brake at the light on 130 and QMR. Also, once the novelty of the jets wears off, the aircraft and helicopter noise is bad from the Airforce base and Coast Guard station. Don't let your kids play in the front yard, traffic moves very fast and drivers often come off the road.
The airforce base makes it difficult to get to the western side of the cape and down to Falmouth/Woods Hole. Also, makes it hard to get to the hospital, you are a 30 min drive from Falmouth or Hyannis hospitals, although there is an urgent care center in the "triangle".
