In my opinion, Avenida de Calma is a great street for kids because, with the size of the homes, chances are, there are many other families in the neighborhood. Also, because it is located in the Crest area at the top of "the Hill", you are rather centrally located from shops, schools and parks. Let's face it. If you live in the Peninsula, you will probably have to drive kids to various playdates and schools since it is a spread out and hilly place. Nevertheless, I believe that is probably the norm these days anyway. Avenida De Calma has sidewalks and streetlights making it a walk friendly place. Also, it is very close to Hesse Park and Highridge Park, both of which as wonderful places for kids to play. Indeed, Highridge Park is one of my favorite places to start a trail walk. Bear in mind, Avenida De Calma is located on the cooler side of the Peninsula, per your other question about weather.
