"A major artery connecting downtown to the Northern subburbs"
Trace the historical growth of Dayton in a northerly direction via Salem Avenue (State Route 49) from the Riverside area through the first wave of suburbs all the way to the extreme north end of town. We used to ride our bikes all the way downtown, using sidewalks almost the entire way.

Salem Ave
"Bad part of town!"
Do not visit here unless you absolutely have to! It is what I would consider "the pbad part of town." There are always news reports of people getting robbed near or on this street. The street itself doesn't look bad, so I think some times people don't realize how bad it really is. If you don't want to get robbed is maybe even have something else worse done to you, do not visit this place!
Salem Ave
"One Word, scarry"
Well, it's a good thing there is a hospital close by here. Salem Ave isn't a place you want to be caught alone at night. On the bright side there are lots of pawn shops if you need to get a gun or sell some jewelry for cash, and no shortage of fast food restaurants with inch thick glass separating you from the employees!
