"Great access to parks, public transit, and conveniences w/ a friendly residential touch"
Santa Clara Avenue provides fantastic access to conveniences- food, drink, libraries, cafes, you name it- as well as great parks, public transit, and bike paths. It makes for a fantastic home base, especially for families interested in doing lots of cool things without relying on a car. A friendly, safe, and diverse neighborhood.
Pros
- bike lanes/route
Cons
- can be high traffic/excessive speeds

Santa Clara Ave
"Good Enough to Get from A to B, but Not Much Else"
This street just doesn't have the charm of Central or even Lincoln. It's bumpy and barren. The houses are fully acceptable, but uninteresting. The whole neighborhood just lacks for...something.
A bike lane runs from Grand to Webster, and from there out you're lane sharing with cars. There's a fair bit of traffic, though bus traffic is minimal, and the cars seem less willing to share the road with bicycles. Santa Clara is the only street where I've been honked at more than once by vehicles in a rush to pass me.
This is the best route if you're heading over to Cycles of Change APC on the old navy base, but the street is nothing special otherwise.

Santa Clara Ave
"Boring street that serves as home to public and government officials."
Santa Clara is home to all of the public buildings in Alameda. The city town hall and other buildings are located on this street. There are always meetings going on during the weekends about road commissions and board plannings. There are also plenty of shops and areas of interest on Santa Clara street. I just can't really think of anything exciting that ever goes on Santa Clara. The crowd is all tie and jacket business oriented and the people that inhabit the street on the week days look too serious. Even on the weekends the street is lacking in excitement. There are some cute houses and nice neighborhoods on Santa Clara along Pacific Avenue. That would be a nice place to buy a house.
