Braeburn

Just outside of the 610 Loop and inside the Sam Houston Tollway in Southwest Houston is where you will find the Braeburn area. Braeswood and Fondren are two of the main streets here. Most commuters in the area use personal transportation, while some will take advantage of the Houston Metro Bus. This established, lower to middle class area of Houston, is home to Sharpstown and Westwood neighborhoods.

Many Houstonians in their 50’s-60’s that I have spoken with have at one time or another lived in the Braeburn area. I hear stories of how affluent it once was, and how it has now been turned into a rather uninviting location. Houston ISD is where grade school residents will attend, while college students will find nearby studies at Houston Baptist University – although many young adults commute to HBU from other areas of Houston. There are a few local parks in the area, as well as Sharpstown Country Club and Westwood Country Club. Housing is quite affordable here, and most residents stay to themselves as crime is rumored to be a concern.
