"Another classic Detroit area neighborhood located near downtown"

My former IT career has taken me all over downtown. I used to do technical support for an undercover police unit that was housed over here, but I can't tell you exactly where it is!

The thing I like about the Brush Park area is that it so well combines the historic and classic with the new and fresh. People seemed to be enamored of old style buildings with a heavy Victorian influence as far as architecture, and there are some homes here that fit that description. They aren't for your everyday folk however, as they are extremely expensive.

And I also like the new housing units and condos that are springing up around here. For residents of the area who are looking for something more modern, these units are good choices to investigate. And they are even redoing the famous Brewster-Douglas projects that fell into disrepair. I think they are turning them into high-rise apartments. This is one part of town that needed revitalization, and is getting it.

The undercover building I worked in had a window where you could look out and see Comerica Park staring you in the face. That is how close this neighborhood is to all the downtown amenities. I-75 is right there for travel into the northern part of the city or suburbs. There is busing on Brush S, John R, and Woodward for those who need to get around with public transportation as well. This is a part of town that has a lot happening, and would be a cool place to call home.

"Brush Park – A Storybook Neighborhood Surrounded by Concrete and Steel"

Nestled neatly in a 24-block area, surrounded by Woodward, Mack, Beaubien and the Fisher Freeway, is a neighborhood reserved for the elite Detroit residents. If you have ever dreamed of living in a dollhouse, Brush Park is where you will want to take up residence, as streets are lined with Victorian homes. There are even houses that have been fully restored, dating back to the Second Empire and French Renaissance Era. You can expect to spend a pretty penny though; this is an expensive neighborhood to live in.

Brush Park puts you centrally located in the middle of the action. Jump on I-75 and you can be downtown at Comerica Park for a ball game or at one of the casinos in a matter of minutes. Of course, to the east is the Eastern Market where you will want to flock on Saturday morning like 40,000 other people. Hundreds of open-air stalls sell everything from organic produce to homemade jams to fresh-cut flowers.

Since Brush Park is bordered by both the Chrysler Fwy and Fisher Fwy you can work in the city or the suburbs and be there without driving through any questionable neighborhoods.

Finding a great place to eat or have a drink is never a problem either. Hockeytown Café, Elwood Bar & Grill, Cheli’s Chile Bar, Roman Café and Union Street Restaurant are minutes away.

The only downfall of living in Brush Park is the school district. If you have children, they will be attending Detroit Public Schools, which have never had a solid reputation. On the plus side, if you have teenagers entering college, you will be right around the corner from Wayne State University as well as their Wayne State Medical Center.

"Beautiful Homes in a Large and Sprawling Area"

Brush Park has it all including the beautiful and elaborate Victorian homes that Detroit has been associated with. Though you don't see as many of these throughout the city, they still remain and stand beautifully in this area of town. This is a rather large area sprawling out 24 area blocks.

This is in the heart of the city and where much of the rennovation is taking place to revitalize what was once a vibrant area. Many are getting in on the act and getting homes now while the cost of living still remains low and the value large. There are some fantastic attributes to this area of town, particularly its' close proximity to everything in the downtown area.

Many seek this out as a great area of town as it is so close to the I-75 expressway and nearby the Lodge freeway as well. It makes it an accessible area of town and it happens to be very safe. Families are enjoying the beautiful large homes here and this is an area that has drawn much attention for the potential investments that these homes hold.

If you are looking for an area downtown you can't go wrong here. You are close to everything and yet can enjoy a gorgeous home for a wonderful value.
