"All in All An Excellent Choice"

You would truly win out to live within this area of Detroit! It's so nice to report on a nice area within the city of Detroit and one that is celebrated. This is the type of area that people from Detroit are proud to point to and say that it's part of their city limits.

What makes this such an excellent choice is that it truly is a nice blend. It truly is city living in that it's within the city of Detroit proper, but yet it feels like suburban living. What that encompasses here is that the houses are in great shape and it shows that the homeowners really care. The streets are clean and the neighborhood is truly in good shape.

There is a great neighborhood organization here that contributes to the true sense of community found here. That makes it such a draw for people who want to be part of something like that. It also makes it a draw for families with children who want to live within Detroit in a truly safe area. It's close to other nicer areas and so you don't have to worry about what is closeby as it's a great blend.

You have access to parks, you're close to major streets for easy accessibility, and you have plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. What you don't have right there within your own neighborhood you can easily find nearby, and that makes it an excellent choice for anybody.

So if you want to feel like part of a true community, want to have easy access to everything, and want to live in a nice area that is well kept then this makes for a great choice for just about anybody. A true gem within the city of Detroit indeed!

"Sherwood Park – A Refreshing Change"

It can be discouraging to drive through Detroit and see one run down and abandoned neighborhood after another. Then, something sort of magical happens; you get to a neighborhood like Sherwood Park, and you nearly feel as though you’ve been transported somewhere else. Well, you have been, you’ve stumbled upon a gem of a neighborhood where the community actually cares. What a refreshing change!

Since the neighborhood is bordered by Livernois and Seven Mile, public transportation is available. Otherwise, both I-75 and the Lodge Fwy are just a few miles away. You are right around the corner from Detroit Golf Club, State Fair Grounds and the University of Detroit Mercy too!

There are quite a few restaurants along Livernois including 1917 American Bistro, Sherwood Forest Coney Island and Jade Garden, and Livernois Square Shopping Center is right there too.

The location of Sherwood Park is pretty ideal too because there is a more upscale neighborhood just a little closer to Woodward, so you don’t have to feel as though as soon as you leave your neighborhood that you will be in danger.

All-in-all, not a bad community. If you are going to invest in Detroit, this is a neighborhood that is likely to hold its value when others continue to fall.

"Like living in the suburbs, except in the city"

I actually first visited this neighborhood as a teen before our family moved into the neighboring University District neighborhood. I met a girl who lived here with her parents, and I came to visit her a few times.

This neighborhood, all of it, feels like living in the suburbs. Just beautiful, sprawling homes, green lush lawns, tree lined avenues, and clean streets. People with money live here. All great communities have well-organized and active home owner associations, and this one is no different. The streets were kind of confusing just because they didn't run east-west and north-south, but it was no big deal really.

There are buses that run along the major streets of Livernois and Seven Mile, but affluent neighborhoods like this one usually had multiple cars per family. Woodward is not far away either and has bus stops as well. And of course there are quite a few retail stores and restaurants along the same streets. The Papa John's on Livernois right by Margareta has some of the best deep dish takeout pizza I have ever tasted.

This neighborhood borders another nice neighborhood, Palmer Woods, so you know that you are hobnobbing with mostly hardworking professionals amongst the area's residents. And although it is not huge in terms of square miles, there are a few good schools in this neighborhood as well. If you can afford it, this is a place to look into for a home.
