Shore Acres
"Small and Upscale with Lots of Trees"
Shore Acres is a little enclave just north of Fort Wadsworth in the Staten Island borough. The neighborhood is reminiscent of the time when Staten Island was really the forgotten borough, as the area is seemingly untouched by the hand or fist of development. The community is straight out of a children’s book where in the dusk of a summer day the huge oak trees give the area at times an eerie darkness. The density of the trees makes it easy to drive right by this community and not even know it’s there.
Shore Acres is small and somewhat upscale in comparison to the other Staten Island neighborhoods. Most of the area’s homes are older and feature natural landscapes. Many of the homes are along the waterfront and boast spectacular views of the New York Harbor to the north and Verrazno-Narrows Bridge to the south.
There is minimal retail shops and stores in the area, and it is best to travel to nearby communities to dine out. The area is exclusively residential. If you are in the market for an upscale home in an extremely quiet community, Shore Acres may just be your new neighborhood of choice.
