"Nice neighborhood if you don't mind traffic noise!"
I grew up on Sherwood Lane -- it's changed quite a bit over the years (like many streets do!). Although it's not a cul-de-sac, you don't get a lot of through traffic because it's the northernmost street in its development. The downside is that it's the the closest street to the Garden Grove Freeway (22) -- although Caltrans built some noise abatement walls years ago, you still get the traffic noise. Once you're used to it it's almost like a built-in white noise machine, but it takes some time. On the plus side, since it's next to the "Orange Crush", you have great acess to 3 freeways!
Houses were all built in the mid-1950s, typically about 1400 sq ft with 3 bd/2 ba or 4 bd/2 ba. Some residents have added second floors or additions. Middle class to lower middle class residents include families with young children, extended family groups, and some retirees. I think most people take pride in their homes and most are well-kept, but some may not have the funds for renovation or nice landscaping. Morrison Park is within walking distance and has basketball courts, tennis courts, a baseball field, playground for the little ones and some nice picnic/barbecue areas.
Main Place is about 15 minutes away (great shopping!) and there's a grocery store and a Starbucks about a mile away.
Overall, it's a nice enough Santa Ana neighborhood if you can deal with the traffic noise!
