"Silver Spur"
This area includes homes off of Silver Spur Road to the north of Hawthorne Boulevard until Montemalaga Drive, the borders of the City of Palos Verdes Estates on the north and west, and Hawthorne Blvd on the South. The homes in this area tend to be smaller and older than many of the other homes in Rancho Palos Verdes, and therefore tend to be more affordable. Neighborhoods include Grandview Estates. Most of this area is located in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes except for Peninsula High School and some homes to the east of Silver Spur Road just before Montemalaga that are located in the City of Rolling Hills Estates.
Silver Spur elementary and Cornerstone Elementary schools in this area are two of the highest rated elementary schools in the State of California. This area is also very close to Peninsula High School as well as the Peninsula Center shopping area.
A new park known as Grandview Park is soon to be constructed in this area on Monte Malaga Drive. This is a centrally located neighborhood on the Peninsula and is close to everything.

"Silver Spur-- Close to schools, shopping, library."
The Silver Spur neighborhood is comprised of Rancho Palos Verdes and some parts of Roling Hills Estates. It is located south of Hawthorne, east of Hawthorne and north of Palos Verdes Drive North, on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
Some of the most amazing city lights and coastal views can be found in the Silver Spur community. If you are looking for a home in Palos Verdes for under $1,000,000, Silver Spur is a great area to begin the search. This area also provides an easy access off and on the Peninsula. Just drive down Hawthorne Boulevard and you are in Torrance where you can do your big shopping (Target, Home Depot, Costco).
The Silver Spur area is also within walking distance to Silver Spur Elementary School and Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. Both schools rank very high in the nation. The elementary school has a great playground, a basketball court, and a soccer field. Many soccer teams practice and play their games there. The school is also very competitive and parent involvement is super high. There is a waiting list for parents to help out in classrooms. If you are a parent of a teen, you will find the proximity to the high school very convenient.
The Peninsula Shopping Center is at the corner of Silver Spur and Hawthorne. The Avenue of the Peninsula (local mall) is adjacent to the shopping center. Since Palos Verdes has an amazing library near the Peninsula Center, many high school students meet there after school or on weekends. It gets really busy there at around 3 pm. The high school has a tennis court which can be used by the public, as well as a swimming pool during the summer-- all within walking distance. If you need to catch a bus, several buses run at the corner of Hawthorne and Silver Spur. Living near the high school can get a bit loud, especially during Homecoming and Graduation, and there is always steady traffic on Hawthorne. It’s a great neighborhood, though, especially for those who enjoy walking to stores and schools.

PRO While Silver Spur is located close to Peninsula High School, the students aren't permitted to park on the residential streets near the school without a permit issued to the local residents. This cuts down on the traffic and congestion in the neighborhood.

PRO Silver Spur Elementary is one of the most sought after elementary schools in the district. It has among the highest test scores in the district and many people want to buy in this neighborhood just to get a leg up in attending this school.
