"A busy little mountain that has more to offer than just the outlet mall"
Many Colorado residents know Silverthorne for the outlet mall. The Outlets at Silverthorne has over 50 name brand stores located in three villages. There is a shuttle service which can pick up shoppers from their hotel in Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail, and Avon and take them to the mall for a small fee of $10-$20. This can be better than the hassle of driving and finding parking. There is also a shuttle which takes shoppers from one village to another.
Although Silverthorne is a popular shopping destination there is so much more to do here. There is a golf course, nordic center, skate park, camping, fishing, hiking, and from December through February there is an outdoor ice rink. This beautiful town has a lot to offer with a scenic background.
The only school in town is an elementary and state testing scores show it is a little below average when compared to other schools statewide. Kids in middle and high school commute to Frisco to attend Summit Middle School which gets a rating of 7 on a 1-10 scale (10 being highest), while Summit High School get an even higher score of 8 out of 10.
Overall Silverthorne is a very safe place to live. Just over 4,000 residents enjoy beautiful mountain scenery with many close options for both skiing and snowboarding. The local rec center is located in a building with over 65,000 square feet of fitness options. There are four pools, 3 water slides, weight room, running track, and multiple classes for a variety of fitness enthusiasts.
The one negative to Silverthorne is that I-70 runs right through it. If it were just a little more off the beaten path it would be an incredible place.
