South Central Ave
"Needs something on the West Side? Head to Central Avenue!"
Located in historic Franlinton (better known as the bottoms, S. Central Avenue has pretty much everything you could want to do. Starting on West Broad Street there is a large shopping and fast food resturant area with gas stations, corner stores, and even a Uhaul place to rent a moving truck. About a half a mile south of W. Broad Street is the middle school, Starling Middle, where my wife went to school for 6th and 7th grade. If you continue south on S. Central Ave, you will eventually be dumped into two shopping centers (one on both sides) commonly known as Central Point Shopping Center. Here you will find a grocery store, fast food resturants and even more gas stations.
There are houses scattered between the businesses all up and down Central, but I would never live there. One time we were driving on Central, and we seen a guy get up out of his car and just start beating a girl that was in his car. Another guy walked up to try to stop him, and they ended up fighting right there in the middle of the street (four lanes, two each way). The neighborhood is run down, with a lot of abandoned houses.
Overall i'd say that it's a good place to shop and visit, but not a good place to live unless you can't afford anything else.
