"Decent Place to Live, Pretty Safe"
The street is pretty safe considering the area. There is a lot of foot traffic at all times and lots of fast food places which makes it convenient to get meals. The street is lined with schools and museums which also makes it a somewhat friendlier area than other parts of South Central.

"great place to shop"
-I am specifically reviewing Figueroa street in Downtown Los Angeles-
Figueroa St is a street that takes you past many of the beautiful old buildings in Downtown. At night it can be pretty shady, with homeless people and the like, but all of downtown can be like that. During the day there are so many cool places to shop. You have your individual shops, liquor stores, etc- and then there are the higher end stores. My favorite place to shop there is at Macy's Plaza- they even have a piano player in the main area, and you can request songs for $1. There's a metro light rail station on 7th near figueroa, and there are many buses that run up and down it too.

"Inexpensive shopping and dining"
Los Angeles convention center is an important and renowned building on Figueroa street. It serves to be a pleasant shopping and dining experience with plenty of restaurants, bars and shopping stops. Being there just for four days, I tasted delicacies in many restaurants out of which I preffered the Sizzler restaurant. It was absolutely fantastic. The food, service and ambience was lovely, especially the beef steaks. Bus is the cheapest and the easiest mode of transport that you can get here. I found travelling much easier because of the travel guide that I had bought from a book store near my lodge.

"It's Downtown, and that pretty much says it all"
One of the things about Los Angeles is that Downtown is one of the least notable areas of the city. I forget who said it, but its been said that standing on the streets, looking up at the skyscrapers, you cannot help but get the feeling that this is where the action cannot possibly be.
As a residential area Figueroa st is plagued by the fact that it is downtown. The only reason to live nearby is that you're a high-paid office worker living in a loft apartment, or you were born into one of the nearby neighborhoods.
As a commercial area Figueroa suffers from bad traffic patterns, bad traffic, and simply the fact that it is downtown.
The primary reason people come to S Figueroa is the Staples Center, for Lakers, Clippers, or Kings games.
