"An island in the city"
Usually you would think of an island as being surrounded by water. Well, Tierrasanta is our island in the middle of the city. This family neighborhood is bordered on one side by Interstate 52, and on another by MCAS Miramar. To the East is Mission Trails Regional park, which offers a wide variety of outdoor activities.
This is a family friendly neighborhood, as stated, with loads of kids swarming the streets on their way home from school. While there's no nightlife or major shopping right in the neighborhood of Tierrasanta, all you have to do is hop on the 52 and you can be an any number of malls within 10 to 15 minutes. The 52 will lead you to the 805 where you can head up to University Town Center, or to the 125 where you can get to Grossmont shopping mall.
