What New York City neighborhoods are similar to Upper West Side? I am looking to move to New York City soon.

Some parts of the Upper West Side (the very western part) resemble the West Village or the Western parts of Chelsea. Some parts (the part around the park) resemble a cross between the Upper East Side and Gramercy, and some parts just resemble the UES. It's a really interesting neighborhood, energy-wise because it changes a lot. There are, generally, a lot of families and young professionals, and the architecture is beautiful. It's definitely sleepier than downtown. But, Amsterdam has a lot going on.
