Is (N Sheridan & W Montrose up to N Sheridan W Lawrence) area Safe?

I've seen groups of people at some bus stops just standing there for half an hour without riding the bus. There seems to be homeless people living in the area, and I think I saw someone use drugs in one of the back alleys. Having said that, is the area there safe (from all aspects) day & night?

The Mcdonalds 2 blocks up has a full time security guard on the premisis. That should say enough.

Absolutely NOT. You can google crime stats in the area here: http://chicago.everyblock.com/crime/

I used to live at Sheridan and Wilson, worst place I have ever lived, big problem with drug dealers, prostitutes, and drug addicts coming from the methadone clinic in the area. DO NOT MOVE HERE.
