"Houston's Best has its drawbacks"
The Woodlands is an upper class large city with over 100K residents. It is located north of Houston and has countless neighborhoods. There is a mall, which is dated and somewhat lackluster. However, it offers great outdoor amenities, especially for Texas. The area prides itself on the beautiful towering pine trees, which can be claustrophobic at times and can be a big negative if one likes open spaces. Transportation is a huge drawback for The Woodlands. There is only one major thoroughfare to get across town which has many stoplights; this is very bad civil planning for a city with over 100K residents.
Pros
- atmosphere
- housing options
Cons
- large population
- "we're rich" attitude
- transportation

"Overrated"
Plano is a very large suburban city in the DFW metroplex with nearly 300K residents. It is well known for its endless shopping and gridded streets but also for its needless pretentiousness. Plano is somehow viewed as DFW's wealthy city, when in fact it's not even close to the top five highest income towns in DFW. Also, most of Plano's neighborhoods have tiny lots and homeowners must use public alleyways which can be a big negative when considering purchasing a home. However, Plano offers good schools, moderate safety, and great shopping. There are two malls in Plano, one is nicer than the other. The city is located north of Dallas and it is nestled in between three tollroads, so commuting will be costly.
Pros
- cost of living
- good schools
- shopping
Cons
- horrible traffic
- snobby attitude
- oceans of cookie-cutter homes and bland atmosphere

Have you ever been to Plano? I wouldn't bother with other rubbish but recommended for singles? Its a highly family oriented town, Legacy Town center, Old Downtown and Austin Ranch are the only suitable pockets for singles. Google homes on Realtor.com to see prices of the houses.

"Truly One Of The Nation's Best Towns"
Southlake is a small community in the DFW metroplex and is highly desired town of choice among professionals due to the exemplary schools, safety, sense of community, shopping, housing, park space, and location. The city's mean household income for Southlake is over $210K, which has driven real estate prices and demand skyhigh. Southlake Town Square is Southlake's downtown center with many upscale shops and city government offices such as Town Hall. In the recent years with the growth of Keller and North Fort Worth, traffic along Southlake Boulevard has increased and has become a nuisance.
Pros
- low crime and atmosphere
- exemplary schools
- housing
Cons
- growing through-traffic
- high real estate prices
