"I haven't been shot...yet."
Living here has been very educational. I never knew that drug selling was such hard work, because there is a guy - far too well dressed to be homeless, who has been posted up on our block for the past 3 years, and he's there EVERY day. I don't care if it's 3am or midnight, he's there. If it's a holiday, he's there. Superbowl Sunday - he's not taking it off. And he has LOTS of friends. Unfortunately, those are the only cars that slow down, as it seems that everybody else who drives through our block tries to make it through as quick as possible. Sometimes I swear they must be running drag races down the street!
Apparently, blue isn't a popular color on this street either, because all the kids like wear black and red, and "mean mug" (glare menacingly) at every car that drives by. But I have to say, I've lived here for 5 years (because LA is so ungodly expensive to be able to move), and there has only been one homicide on our block so far! My wife and I just had a new baby, and we're getting out as soon as we can!

Great review. Extremely useful for anyone looking to move into the area, even if it is mostly bad news.
Is there anything the local government could do about the problem? Perhaps a letter to your local representative could make a difference
You would probably think so, but considering that there is a police academy and station literally around the corner, my faith in the authorities to crack down on the drag races and unsavory elements isn't really high.
The good news is I just moved my family two weeks ago to Harbor City, into a gated community, and everything is great!
Thanks AJ
