Courtland Ave
"Courtland Ave..Hey You Never Know"
Courtland Ave is full of surprises. One day you might be walking and see a brother and sister fighting, the next day you might see a drunk pass out on the street. as you walk down Courtland Ave you can hear Spanish music blaring from everywhere, lots of old drunk men looking at any and everything, they're so old and drunk they can't even tell if its a girl or not. There are some small shops to eat but nothing fancy. Further down is a bank and a local shopping area...overall with Courtland Ave, you never know!

East 144th St
"Walk, Jog, Than RUN!!"
What has the potential to be a good street is ruined by project mentality and poverty. This area is beautiful from the outside looking in, but you might not want to be caught out here when the street lights go down because things get very rough in this area. You might bear witness to a murder or some police brutality on any given day of the week, or even worse. This area is good for a daytime stroll, but just don’t get too comfortable
East 151st St
"Half and Half"
If by the strangest reason you find yourself strolling down 151st you will notice that coming from the Manhattan side is much louder and busier than if you went further down east. The streets are more crowded than usual because Lincoln Hospital, 149th shopping centers and the Transportation hub with the local buses and trains all being close by. The blocks start to quiet down once u get past 3rd Ave, that’s when u can enjoy the other half of the Bronx

East 233rd St
"The Busy Street"
This is always the street to avoid until the last minute because it is always full of traffic and activity. It is a main road connecting highways and public transportation. The metro north station is down this road as well. There are a few stores along this street but nothing to get excited about. This area is usually kept clean, and there are lots of nice houses going up along the strip.

East 156th St
"exploring in the bronx"
The street stretches from the darks side of the projects straight down to the industrial Hunts Point area. You can find many stores of all kind on the street including a Little Caesars off of 156 and 3rd Ave. It’s all about exploring. Also close to 3rd Ave, are some newly constructed townhomes and a new senior building in that area as well.

Radcliff Ave
"Off on the side"
This street is off of Gun Hill, and its a small side street lined with and houses and trees. The day that i visited was warm, and the street was in full effect. There were kids playing in the street, people hanging in the font of their houses, it just seemed like a friendly neighborhood. The friend i went to visit, said he walks his dog, jogs and has very few issues, the stores are a couple blocks off, so yoy should shop before you come.

"The Beautiful Bronx"
This street is lined with houses and many churches to choose from. It’s a fairly quiet area that starts around 233rd St, where you will find a nice CARVEL on the corner, and ends somewhere around Tremont. I haven't been as far down as the Tremont area, but between 233rd-Gun Hill Rd, The Paulding Ave that I know, I love.

"an interesting street"
I would love to say that this is a safe street but at times this street can turn into the Vegas strip. There is always something going on castle hill Ave. The good, the bad and the ugly. This is a block where people like to hang out, and show off a little. every once in a while you can find a drag race or a street fight, trust me the area can get a little crazy, but the diversity and the food make it all worth while!

"Desolate block in the corner"
This is a small and desolate stretch of area. After an apartment fire, the Red Cross moved me to this block and everyday I learn something new about the neighborhood. There is lots of construction in the area, building new apartments and stores, so it might be something to look forward to. As far as shopping 10 minutes on the BX19 and you will be on southern blvd. where u has a bit of a selection but nothing really impressive for us true shoppers. There are few children in this are besides the school not too far away. Overall it’s not the best, but far from the worst.

"A middle ground"
due to the new construction, this place is really changing. There are various newly constructed family townhouses springing up all around this area. the neighborhood vibe is very youthful and can be very loud and rowdy at times because the block is small, and lots of kids play in the front of their house. there is lots of green area, but not too much shopping. There are lots of good thinks to eat and you can always feel the pulse of the neighborhood.

"For A little Peace and quiet.."
I moved from a 24/7 party on 155th and Amsterdam, in Manhattan to a closed after midnight kind of party in the Bronx. I lived on 229th and Paulding Ave for 2 years, and I must admit it took a lot of getting used to. The surrounding area is quiet, yet not too far away, you can still hear the hustle and bustle of the Edenwald Projects.
The neighborhood is lined with trees, and the traffic is moderate so it would be easy to take a walk or jog down the street. There are not a lot of stores in the area, mostly supermarkets, and Laundromats, but down White Plains Road there are a couple more places to choose from. My neighborhood was mostly Caribbean/ Jamaican people, so that means…yes, you guessed it, lots of Jamaican restaurants to choose from. Overall it’s a great neighborhood for families, and a good place to live if you need a little peace and quiet.
