About Me
A 2010 Houlihan Lawrence Top Producer
The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise - with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. -Abraham Lincoln
A Different Kind of Real Estate Practice. These are stormy times; different times. And different times demand a different kind of real estate practice. You deserve, you should demand, nothing less.
You deserve, you should demand, an agent who thinks differently and acts differently; who has built a completely different kind of real estate practice. An agent who:
- Puts your interests first; not her own
- Begins and ends with a single-minded focus on you
- Listens to you first and speaks to you second
- Wants what's best for you, not her, and works zealously to secure it
- Understands you won't care what she knows until you know she cares
Can it Be? If you've ever worked with a real estate agent before, you may be thinking to yourself "this sounds like a fantasy." But it's not. I've built a new kind of real estate practice, a practice that's based only on these principles, all of which put you at the center.
It's Called a Concierge Real Estate Practice. I call my new kind of real estate practice a concierge practice. Because if we decide to work together, you may rely on me not only to be whole-heartedly devoted to your matter, but to oversee all its different components.
That means that if you're a seller, I will not only price and market your home, but I'll manage everything else that makes it more likely you'll be successful. In the past, that's meant watering the plants while my clients were on vacation or single-handedlysecuring a real property tax reduction in order to make their house more competitive.
And if you're a buyer, I'll not only scour the available properties to find the perfect home for you, but once we've been successful, I'll manage the other pieces that go into making your dream a reality. In the past, that's meant letting in the contractors or introducing you to an entire new community of friends and neighbors, for you and your children.
Why Should You Care? This isn't just about doing the right thing, because it's the right thing to do. Of course, putting your interests first, acting only with integrity and honesty, is the right thing to do. But I've built a concierge real estate practice because doing the right thing for you is also the thing that will sell your home most quickly and for the best price. And if you're searching for that perfect home, doing the right thing for you is also the thing that makes it more likely your home will be the fulfillment of your dreams, not a nightmare from which you can't be awakened.
That means that, when you're selling your home, you should insist on an agent who will give you an honest, unbiased price opinion; not an agent who will inflate his or her opinion in order to get your listing, thereby causing you to miss selling opportunities because your house is overpriced. And it means that when you're buying a home, you should insist on an agent who will find the right home for you, not the right commission for her.
How Do I Know If You're the Right Agent for Me? There's really only one way to tell; we have to meet, and we have to get to know one another a bit. I'm fortunate to be able to choose my clients, and we'll both want to feel that our relationship will be a successful one. But please take a look at my two most recent client testimonials to see whether you think it's worth your time to have that first meeting.
"I hope my new house is half as amazing as Deborah Kurlander, the real estate agent who helped me find it." (For the full text of the actual testimonial, please click on the "FOR BUYERS" tab at the top of this page.)
"[Deborah] was relentless in her drive to make sure we were in the best possible situation for sale, and then was on top of all that transpired after we found the buyers . . . ." (For the full text of the actual testimonial, please click on the "FOR SELLERS" tab at the top of this page.)
The Proof. Yes, these are different times; challenging times. But challenges sometimes bring opportunities, if one is alert to them and able to act and think differently. In the midst of the worst market in recent memory, I've had my best year ever!
