East New York Ave
"an empty place"
the reason i titled my review this is because large chunks of east New York Avenue is empty. it is an post industrial area full of small empty buildings. because of so many empty buildings crimes take place quite frequently in the area. there isn't much of an night life since theres no nightclubs or bars in the area. they are supermarkets, day cares, and schools in the area so if your raising a kid it could be a good place to live (other than the crime). also, they're isn't any shopping centers near by you'll most likely have to go to kings plaza to buy stuff. it's nice in the daytime but once the sun falls get out fast.
Albany Ave
"A place with nothing to do."
Albany avenue is an average working class community with the things you expect in an neighborhood grocery stores, barber shops, and a few take out restaurants. There isn't any nightlife here at all so don't get your hopes up. there is a lot of traffic in the area so it can get loud at times. also there are a lot of shady characters in the area and I've witness people being robbed so it isn't the best place to go. theres a school nearby but i do not know if it is good or not. not the best place to go.

"it has it's good and it's bad"
This is a residential area with just apartment building. though it is right off of kings highway you wouldn't know it is very quiet. there are three grocery stores, a McDonalds, a chineses restaurant, and a Caribbean restaurant with in walking distance. it is a very safe place to live and walk around and i have never encounter any dangers in the area. there isn't much of a nightlife so you will have to party some where else. the biggest problem in the area is pest. when i lived there as a child our family eventually had to move out due to the amount of rats and roaches. because of the pest problem i can not recommend anyone to live their unless the have a cat.

"close to everything"
i walk down empire blvd. on my way home. there are many restaurants to buy food such as white castle, KFC, Wendys, among others. also there are many places to buy closes, jewelery, cars, and plenty of other goods. the area is quiet noisy and has high amounts of traffic but it's close to buses, and train stations . because there is so much traffic and people the are is very safe and you can usually see police officers patrolling the area. i would want to live here because of the noise but it is diffidently a place to go to buy clothes and food.

New Lots Ave
"an area on the rise"
My uncle brought an house an Williams street (which is right off of new lots) so i know the area well. The area was once a crap hole but development in the area (building of houses) has made the area much safer. they are plenty of grocery stores and a sense of community among the people who have brought new houses. also the l train runs through the area as well as a bus that goes to jfk. the close proximity to mass transits makes it easy to get around the area. there isn't any shopping areas that i know of but there are plenty of restaurants that deliver. a nice place to live if you can buy one of the new houses. there isn't any night life here which is a let down to young people.

"A starter area"
I called Saratoga avenue a starter area because it is a place you would want to start off at when just arriving in Brooklyn. this is due to low rents and overall a low cost of living in comparison to other places in Brooklyn let alone Manhattan. it is a very urbanize place with a lot more apartment buildings than houses. if you know how to handle yourself you will not get into any trouble with the bad elements in the area mainly bored teenagers with nothing to do and the now and again druggie. they are plenty of places to buy food, clothes and even furniture. overall its a OK place to live but, you do not want to spend your entire life there.

East 47th St
"a nice place to live"
Most of E 47th street is filled with nice middle class homes. i know the area well since i went to school around the area for 4 years and many of my school mates lived near by. overall it's a safe area though there are gangs (mainly Crips) that are known to hang around the area. in 4 years of hang around the area I've never seen any act of violence. they are small take out restaurants scatted throughout the area and there are tire shops, supermarkets etc. overall this is a quite neighborhood suited for those looking to raise a family. there isn't any night clubs or shopping centers.

Madison St
"it's ok if you know people and know the area."
Malcolm x blvd especially at the intersection of Fulton avenue isn't the best place to go if you don't know the area especially at night. they tend to be a lot of gang members( mainly bloods) standing around getting high and on multiple times I've seen people get beat up and rob. though it's a little rough it is a perfect place since the bus (b46) travel along the street and it's not far from the train station where the A and C train stops (Utica avenue). I've never had any problems there since i know many people in the area.

"an island in a sea of noise"
i live on troy avenue. i think it is a great place to live. it's overall a safe place i've only came into trouble once for the past 18 years. they are plenty of places to eat though most are take out such as Chinese restaurants, grocery stores, super markets, and Caribbean restaurant. many of the residents are west Indian so the area is very diverse. they're are 4 hospitals around so if you ever had a heart attack you stand a good chance of surviving. so many hospitals does make the area a tad bit noisy though but it's something you get used to. overall this is a great place to live not much else since theirs no shopping centers around but, you are only 30 min from Manhattan.
