"A good location to raise children. There is a friendy & fun park across the street."
There are only homes (14) on the north side of the street and only two homes fronting on the cul-de-sac at the east end. A Pima County Park fronts on the rest of the cul-de-sac and the entire south side of the street. Some homes have swimming pools. All have walled in rear yards. School bus stops near the West end of the street. Two shopping centers nearby. Foothills Mall is about 3 miles and includes a 24 hour Super Wal-mart. There are super markets nearby: Safeway, Albertsons, Fry's, Basha's (an AZ chain) and even a Wal-mart Neighborhood Grocery. The park is usually populated with near neighborhood families and children. It has a playground for 3 to 12 year olds, 3 picnic tables with nearby grills, a ½ size basketball court with TV one basket and nearby, a unisex restroom. There is a blacktop walkway encicling the east end park area and the west end park, joined in sort of a figure 8. Only walking and bicycles are allowed to use the walkway. No motorized vehicles are allowed and it's understood that people who walk their dogs will pick up any waste. The park currently has one Ramada with plans for two more with grills and two additional picnic tables with grills. The park is well maintained and has a large grassy area where residents put blankets down to lounge upon and ocassionally there will be kids batting balls or playing touch football. The houses were built in the very late 80s and early 90s and are in good condition. Our street is one of many in a development called Linds Vista Estates, There are 560 homes in the development. Wireless, Cable and DSL Internet connections are available. Some homes have natural gas and many are all electric. Cable television is a necessity, as TV antenna reception is spotty because there are mountains surrounding greatrer Tucson. The cable service is provided by Comcast cable. There are wonderful and very beautiful views of the Catalina Mountains from the Linda Vista Neighborhood Park. One can see the top of Mount Lemmon, 9200' above sea level, on which there is skiing and snowboardiing for much of the winter. It has the distinction of the southern most skiing facility, including a chair lift, in the United States. Many Tusonans go up on Mt. Lemmon to visit, go hiking or to camp for weekends as the temperatures are about 30° cooler than that of the community which is at about 2200 feet above sea level. When there is snow on the mountain residents go up to throw snowballs, build snowmen and to let children see snow, an oddity for most Arizona natives.

When I moved here 11 years ago, Shannon Road was not paved! The entrance to our subdivision, Linda Vista Boulevard, was paved and all of our streets were, as well. I, too, cannot believe the changes in Greater Tucson in just 11 years...the growth is only stopped by the mountains. Recently, I changed from cable Tv & Internet to Dish Network and DSL, which is jbetter as it's all digital & more economical. Thanks for youcomment!
Sounds like you love your area. How's the shopping situation and it this community a sub-division?
Who responsible for maintaining the roads? Thanks for sharing...
Continued blessings from your fellow street advisor on the east coast!
