Bainbridge St
"Between 2nd st and 4th st"
I love the section of Bainbridge between 2nd street and 4th street. I walk by here a lot to get to South street, since there is a parking lot that is free certain times of the day a few blocks from there. There are some great places to eat at in this area, you can't miss them. My favorite is a small pizza shop below Fat Tuesdays on South street. It's a block off Bainbridge if you go up 4th street. They make a great cheese steak and have delicious pizza. Once I saw a group of people dining on a median strip at 4th and Bainbridge. I thought that was so awesome, just eating dinner with your friends at a huge table outside in the city. The Median is quite large by the way. I think South street shadows Bainbridge and it's a shame, because it really is a great street to take a walk on or take a seat and people watch.

Philmont Ave
"great area to check out"
I travel along Philmont ave on my way to school everyday. Some days the traffic backs up at the intersection of Bustleton ave, but it's generally not too bad. Whiskey Tango is a popular bar right at that intersection. I've never been to it since I'm of legal drinking age, however everyone I know who is loves it. I always see live bands advertised there. There are row homes, apartments, and individual houses along Philmont ave. I find these row homes to be some of the nicest in Northeast Philadelphia, judging by the outside appearance. Closer to street road there is a custom window tint shop called Shade of Gray. They do really nice work for a reasonable price. There are a bunch of other small businesses along Philmont ave that all seem to be worth looking into, specifically automotive based businesses. Overall this seems like a great area to live in. It's considered the city yet far enough away to have the feeling of the suburbs. Part of the street is considered the suburbs.

East Cayuga St
"Juniata park area"
Since my mother lives on K street I frequently took walks down to Juniata Park, which is located on E Cayuga street. The neighborhood is beginning to go down hill. However Juniata Park is still a great place to hang out. There are different events that go on through out the year, and there are always people socializing in the area. If your a dog fan this is a great park to visit. My mom is always telling me a new story about a dog that someone was walking in the park. Just down the street from the park is Juniata Golf Course. This course has been horribly maintained for many years, but is now under new management and beginning to turn around. The course isn't bad for what you pay, and I actually thought the design was really interesting. You play on many elevated tee boxes, and hit your ball over creeks very often. I believe Tiger Woods even visited this course a few times. They have pictures of him at the course in the club house. This is a great course if your a beginner. Overall I'd say E Cayuga street is a good time. There is a lot of culture there.

K St
"Going down hill"
My mother lives on K street, in a small row home. I have visited k street many times over the last ten years, and have noticed a gradual decline. K street used to be home to a lot of older people. Slowly more and more diversity has moved in over the years. There are now gangs and drug dealers residing in many of the homes on and around K street. The Juniata Park area used to be a half decent place to live. When I was younger I used to get snow cones and great pizza right across the street from her house, however now these places are under new management and are not the same. One plus is that the Erie Torresdale "el" stop is only a short walk from K street. Great if you commute on the "el". I'm not so sure if it's possible for this neighborhood to turn around, but it may surprise me. There are still a few old residents left toughing it out, but I don't think it will be enough to get the old vibe going again.
Ghost
Yeah, I know exactly what you mean about this area! Many of the streets around here are just the same. Drugs rule here, which is very sad. A very dangerous and disgusting state of affairs; I really doubt that things will get any better for any length of time. When the police move in to do something, all that seems to happen is that the gangs go elsewhere, then come back, etc. Ick!

Guyer Ave
"my opinion on Guyer ave"
A friend of mine, who cuts my hair, lives on Guyer ave. I've been there probably once a month, for the last six months. Guyer ave exists in a neighborhood that is slowly going down hill. The area reminds me of the parts of the Northeast that are taking a turn for the worst. My friend has had his house up for sale for a little over a year, and has finally found a buyer. He told me the move isn't such a bad thing. He told me all of his old friends that had lived there moved away, due to the ever growing number of lowlifes that are moving in. The houses are fairly plain. They are all row homes, and the street is quite cramped and lined with parallel parked vehicles. When I'm there I can tell it used to be a great neighborhood. Sadly I don't see this street turning around anytime soon.
Cottman Ave
"Roosevelt Mall area"
Cottman ave is fairly long, so I've decided to just review a small section of it. I think the Roosevelt Mall section is the best section to review.Roosevelt Mall is an outdoor strip mall, that I've been to many times. My favorite shoe store is located in Roosevelt Mall (Kicks USA). Kicks USA carries many different kinds of shoes, and their stock is always changing. Their prices are fairly reasonable. On almost any given night an insulated courtyard in the mall becomes home to a group of "gothic" kids. Don't worry though mall security chases them away when they get out of hand. The surrounding houses are mostly your standard brick front row homes, your standard brick front. Cottman ave is a very busy road, and you will constantly see people walking around or waiting for the buses that frequently pass by. The traffic and stop lights can be a major headache, when your in a rush, around this area of Cottman ave. This is due to the exiting traffic from Roosevelt blvd. The Roosevelt Mall area of Cottman ave is a fun place to hang out and shop.

Cottage St
"Cottage Street in The Northeast"
I used to date a girl who lived with her grandparents on Cottage street. I thought the area was really great. The people who lived there were very friendly and I always felt welcome. The houses were mostly doubles. You know the types of houses that are split in half for two families. Cottage ave is a very pretty city street. Many of the people who live on Cottage keep well maintained landscapes. The area is fairly quiet, but you still get the sense that you are in the city. Great street in the Northeast.

Convent Ln
"Convent ln is a great little street"
I recently painted the inside of a house on Convent lane in Northeast Philadelphia. The house was over 200 years old, and had plaster walls that had never been painted inside. I was working for a guy who grew up in the area. He told me so many great stories. He said they're was farmland around the area back in the 1950's, and local children used to stand by a street side fence and feed the farmer's animals. Convent lane begins on Frankford ave and is a dead end street, cut short by Interstate 95. There are some great houses on Convent lane, and there is a really strong sense of community there. Towards the end of the street there is a park with winding trails to walk on. I constantly saw people walking by enjoying the area, and the park's trails. Overall I'd say this is one of the greatest streets in Philadelphia. It's a very down home friendly area, very much like the Northeast that once was.

State Rd
"Some good pitstops"
State road is a fairly long street. It begins in Croydon, PA and ends in Northeast Philadelphia at the Tacony Palmyra bridge. You will find many factories and businesses along State road, along with a few other neat places. There is a small bait shop at the corner of Linden ave and State Road that's great if you plan on fishing in the Delaware River. The River is only a couple blocks off of stae road at all times. The section of State road that runs through Croydon, PA has a great little bakery on it, called Fritz's. Fritz's makes some of the best German sticky buns you will ever eat. The Neshaminy State Park entrance is also located on State road. The park is a great place to go for a jog or have a picnic. There is also a swimming pool and a few pavilions an The Neshaminy State Park. Overall State road is a great road to visit if you like mom and pop shops. There are also a few quiet little developments that would be great to live in.

Kensington Ave
"Kensington Avenue (Under the El)"
Kensington ave is a pretty unique street in Philadelphia in my opinion. Kensington is a dangerous town. However underneath the "el" on Kensington ave you'll find all kinds of people who sell just about everything. There are many different shops and vendors on the street who sell knock off items and other things for dirt cheap. I wandered onto Kensington ave when I was about 13 or 14 years old, to check out some mural I had seen from the "el". I walked around for a little while and bought a 5 dollar hat. I took some snap shots of the graffiti mural, and watched the people. Once it started getting dark I realized it was time to leave, because I kept getting glares from people hanging around on street corners. Kensington ave is also where Cassidy, a rapper native to Philadelphia, shot his music video "Ima Hustla". All in all I think Kensington ave is a decent place to visit from time to time.I wouldn't plan a family outing there of course, but if you like to see the dirty side of town then it may be for you. Just make sure you respect your surroundings, and don't overstay your welcome.
