"Historic Square in City of Brotherly Love"

Rittenhouse Square is a beautiful park in the middle of Philadelphia, PA. If you like urban living, this is a wonderful place to live. There are many large apartment buildings in the area. In addition some of the nearby streets are lined with historic townhouses. The Square has a large grassy park in the middle. It's near to the businesses and office buildings of Center City. Museums such as the Philadelphia Art Museum and the Franklin Institute are a short walk away. Several nearby streets have many restaurants and a vibrant night life. It is in the middle of a large city so you have to deal with problems such as noise and traffic. However, if you work in Center City and want to live near a lot of action and cultural institutions, Rittenhouse Square is an excellent choice.

"Interesting Street in DC"

7th Street SW runs from the National Mall down past L'Enfant plaza to the Southwest Waterfront. It crosses the busy SW Freeway and goes by massive government buildings such as the headquarters of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. After it crosses the highway it goes past apartment buildings and new townhouses in Southwest DC. It then ends near the waterfront where there is an open air fish market and a number of seafood restaurants. This is probably not the best known area of DC but it there are a number of interesting places nearby, such as Arena Stage which is being rebuilt. This is an interesting street that is near the center of DC. If you like seafood you can take this street to the SW waterfront and the seafood market. It is close to 395 which crossed the Potomac into Virginia so it is near the entrance to DC and is easy to get to.

"Artery through downtown DC"

12th Street is a major artery that run through downtown DC. It connects one of the major bridges across the Potomac River with downtown. It runs across the National Mall into downtown DC. It goes by many office buildings and large government agencies. It crosses many of the major streets in downtown DC such as Pennsylvania Avenue, Constitution Avenue and K Street. It is usually very busy. North of the downtown area, it becomes residential and there are many apartment buildings. This is an important street that I use everyday to get to work but often I am stuck in traffic on it so its not always so pleasant.

"Cross Street Near Smithsonian and Capitol"

Fourth Street crosses the National Mall and goes by the Air and Space Museum and the new National Museum of the American Indian. As you walk or drive down the street, you get a great view of the United States Capitol Building which is four blocks away. In the other direction you can see the Washington Monument. As you move south you pass by government agency buildings. After going under a bridge beneath the SW Freeway, you enter the residential area of South West DC where there is a park, apartment buildings and townhouses. This is an important street that has magnificent views of the center of the US government and the Smithsonian.

"Street Near Smithsonian"

Jefferson Drive, SW is a small street in front of the Smithsonian Institute. It passes in front of the Smithsonian Castle, the original building of the Smithonsian Institute. On the other side of the street is the open space of the National Mall. During the summer and on weekends there are many tourists walking around the Mall. Driving is difficult here because there is a lot of traffic and it is a small street with cars dropping people off at the museum. If you are here to see the museums you will probably cross this street. Otherwise there probably isn't a reason to go onto it.

"Small Street in Georgetown with a lot to do"

This small street in Georgetown runs from M Street towards the Georgetown waterfront. It has a number of small cafes and bars. At the corner of M and Thomas Jefferson there is a large Barnes and Noble bookstore, which is a great place to browse for books. From there the street goes down toward the waterfront. It crosses a canal over a small bridge. It is usually very crowded with people and traffic. There is always activity here with people going to the waterfront or one of the cafes and restaurants that line the street.

"Street of history and alternative lifestyles"

The most famous part of P Street is the area in Dupont Circle where there a number of gay bars and restaurants. The blocks between 20th and 23rd street are very active and lively with a used bookshop, restaurants and bars. It's a very interesting and exciting area if you are open to alternative lifestyles. To the west, the street goes past Rock Creek Park and into Georgetown where there are many historic houses. Here it is very quaint and beautiful.

"Quiet Street of Offices"

L Street, NW runs through downtown DC. It has many office buildings, hotels and apartment buildings. I work in one of the office buildings. It's much less crowded and busy than K Street which runs parallel to it but it also has many offices. At night it is quiet and lifeless. Many interesting organizations, such as the Cato Institute, have their headquarters on this street. If you are a tourist you probably won't spend much time here but if you work in DC you might work in one of these office buildings or visit one.

"Downtown near Baseball Stadium"

G Street, SW is a street near the center of Washington DC. It's just a few blocks from the United States Capitol, the National Mall, and the Smithsonian Institute. There are a number of large apartment buildings. The rest of the street are townhouses. If you work for a government agency or on Capitol Hill, it is very convenient. There is also a branch of the DC Public Library and a small university, Southeastern University. The Washington National's baseball park is close by. Near the stadium there are many new office buildings and hotels. If you like living in an urban environment where you can walk or use public transportation to go everywhere, this is a good area to live.

"Convenient Residential Street near University"

45th Street, NW is a residential street that is near American University. It is convenient to the University and also to rest of the city. You can work to the Tenley Metro Station. It is also close to Friendship Heights where there is a mall and a lot of shopping and restaurants. The houses tend to be small, older brick houses with small yards. There are alleys behind many of them. It's one of the safe areas of DC. I lived there when I was a student and enjoyed the convenience. It is one of the safer areas of the city but you may have to interact with a lot of college students living in off campus houses.

"Home of Lobbyists"

K Street is famous for its lobbyists and law firms. It's a busy street full of office buildings. During the weekday, the sidewalks are crowded. At night it's much more quiet. There are a few restaurants and bars but it's mostly office buildings. Near the intersection of K and Connecticut Avenue, there are restaurants such as McCormicks & Schmidt's and the Farragut North Metro Station. As you move toward west toward Georgetown it becomes more residential and there are apartment buildings.
