"Too much going on here"
I used to visit a friend of mine here often. This is a small street off of Westheimer and the only residents are those who live in the West Point Apartments. It was ALWAYS noisy...there are always cars parked on the side of the street which made it hard to navigate. Even so people were often speeding down the street (even with the massive speed bumps). People walked the streets at all hours of the night. I didn't hear of too many incidents of crime or safety concerns, but there is just always a lot of activity on that street all the time. I wouldn't recommend the area for anyone except singles who really enjoy night life. There are plenty of restaurants/shops/nightlife up and down Westheimer.

"Nice quiet street with great neighbors"
One of my good friends lives here, and it really is a nice street. It's a cul-de-sac, so everyone on the street knows each other pretty well and are very friendly. There are several families with children, and the kids often play basketball in the circle without having to worry about traffic speeding through. It's a quiet street (except for one kid who likes to practice his bagpipe in the front yard--I am not kidding). There are numerous shopping areas and restaurants in the area, a Blockbuster Video, Wal-Mart, Bank of America, gas stations--pretty much everything you need can be found along the bayou on Braeswood. This street is near the Jewish Community Center and Fondren Middle School, and is a stone's throw from 610 loop, Meyer Park, and Meyerland Plaza. Nice place to live!

"This is HORRIBLE"
My ex-boyfriend lived here, so I was often visiting. This street is HORRIBLE. There are mainly apartments on this street which is not a problem in and of itself. But the complexes are not well kept, the gates are often broken which means anyone and everyone can walk or drive up off of the street into the complex. Most of the time it is noisy, and the police are always being called. The driveways and sidewalks are often in bad condition, with many holes. Safety is an issue, there tends to be many incidents of break ins and vandalism in a majority of the complexes. There are many restaurants and grocery stores on the street, so that is not an area which is lacking. This used to be a pretty nice street/area when about 15 years ago, but it has changed for the worse. Unless the city/civic association makes many changes I would not recommend that street to ANYONE.

"Nice location, but impersonal"
My brother lives here, and the location is great: near the Medical Center, near the major freeways, near downtown. But there is always traffic on this street. Dining is few and far between, and they are usually fast food places such as Subway, there aren't any real sit down dining restaurants nearby. There are several apartment complexes on Almeda, so there isn't much of an opportunity for families to get to know one another as you would a residential area. The street itself is in bad shape: several pot holes and bumps which can be hard on your car. But it is right across the street from Hermann Park, so that is a plus. There are frequently joggers and dog walkers in the area.

"Lovely area, great neighbors!"
A friend of mine lives here and often has cookouts and other get togethers at his place. The neighbors are fantastic, they often wander over and are very accommodating. There are several families on this street, and mostly everyone is dog friendly. There are often people out walking their dogs and visiting with one another. The streets are narrow, which can be a problem when there are people parked on the street. This street is near W. Holcombe & Buffalo Speedway, so there are plenty of shopping and dining opportunities. There is also a large church nearby. There is easy access to the Medical Center and to the 610 loop. Great street, and great location!

"Quiet street, near EVERYTHING"
My sister and her family lives here. Other than the fact it is located extreme North, it is a great place to live if you work nearby. There is an elementary (Greenwood Forest Elementary), middle (Wunderlich Intermediate School), and high school (Klein Forest High School) all within walking distance. The street borders a beautiful residential neighborhood. There is no shortage of shopping, restaurants, drugstores, grocery, video stores--you name it, it can be found on FM 1960. It is near Beltway 8, Bush Intercontinental Airport, 249 Parkway, and I-45. I personally prefer to live within the 610 loop, but for those who don't mind being farther removed, I would definitely recommend it!

"This was one of the best streets I ever lived on!"
I lived here for 2 years while I was in college. It was great! I lived in an apartment complex, but this street was also a part of a residential community. There were lovely homes on this street as well. The lawns were always nice, lush and green. It was a quiet neighborhood, although it was located in a college town. As a matter of fact, it was probably one of the quietest streets in the city. There was not much traffic down this street, and even in the apartments there were several families with small children. There were frequently kids riding their bikes, playing in the pool, or at the nearby park. This street is in close proximity to several schools, beautiful parks, and also a medical facility! Great location!

"Nice for families"
My dad lives on this street. The neighbors are very nice to one another, they look out for each other. There tends to be a lot of people with loud music driving up and down the street, but overall it seems to be a nice place for families. There are a lot of children who ride their bikes and skate up and down the street, so overall it's pretty safe. I think there is a police officer who lives on the corner, so that adds to the safety factor. The lawns are nicely manicured, and the homes are well kept.

"Nice, but has gone down"
This area (Westheimer & the Beltway) is a GREAT location for shopping, dining, and nightlife, but it tends to get pretty noisy. Even though this is a smaller street, there is still quite a bit of traffic due to the location. Neighbors in this area tend to get noisy, with quite a bit of arguing and fighting in the apartment complexes. For a while, there was a pest problem, but I hope that they have gotten this under control. Its a good place for singles/recent college graduates who are looking for their first apartment. I would recommend moving elsewhere if you are looking to start a family though.

"Quiet, friendly street"
I grew up on this street, and my grandmother still lives there. It is in a nice, quiet neighborhood, and neighbors really look out for one another there. The yards are well kept, there is a family YMCA, 2 churches and 2 elementary schools within walking distance. There are gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants nearby. It is also not far from Meyerland Center and Meyer Park. Overall, a nice, safe place to live.

"Great location, overall nice place to live"
I currently live on this street. For the most part I enjoy it. It is near all of the major freeways, near downtown, and near the Texas Medical Center. There are a few nice food places nearby (Luby's, Reggae Hut) but most places are not super close. It is a prime area of town due to the proximity of roadways and nightlife, however it does tend to get noisy because of Hwy 288 being right there. Also the sirens from the ambulances in transit to the Medical Center can get pretty loud. But overall, for single person apartment living, this is a nice place to be. I would not recommend it for seniors.
