"Quiet and friendly area by the park."
Mostly quiet, safe street which is the southern end of Van Cortlandt Park. Along the street itself, he park has a few playgrounds, a golf course and a lake all within 5 mins of each other (the park is huge so this area on the south end is great because there's lots to do) The area is busy with working families and kids but not rowdy. Lots of seniors in the area too! There are co-op apartments (Amalgamated Housing Corp) all along the street from Gale Place to Saxon Ave. It's just a stone's throw from the Deegan (I-87) and there are a couple buses nearby too (the #1, #2 & #10) I've lived here for years, and the people are great. Everyone kinda knows everyone else, and people look out for you and your kids, etc. Strong sense of community here. Not much in the way of restaurants and shopping, but there's a supermarket, bank & pharmacy 2 blocks over. Broadway is about a 5 min drive and there you'll find bars, shopping, restaurants, etc. Best part is the park itself. Open space to run, bike, play soccer, whatever you like. Great place to raise a family...and it's in the Bronx no less!
