"Hawks Landing Property - Live like you're on vacation"
The first time we drove into Hawks Landing, I knew I had to live there. My wish came true and we now live in a courtyard home on a quiet street. There is a beautiful fountain when you drive onto the property surrounded by towering palm trees. Blue Palm Street is a quiet street with plenty of children to play and stay at home moms to share coffee and treats.
Hawks Landing is a tennis community. So if you play, you will have plenty of friends inside the property. Not to say that if you don't play you won't have friends, but I find it easier to meet neighbors when you have something in common.
If you want night-life you have to head to Miami which is about 35 minutes away. There are lots of clubs and restaurants to choose from. There is also the ocean. Plenty of beaches both public and private to choose from.
The hospital near Hawks Landing is known for its Trauma Center and has a good reputation with the locals. There are 2 public schools near. Both are blue ribbon schools. American Heritage is a private school located 1 mile from the community and boasts the title of "Best Private School in the Nation".
Shopping is lacking in the area though. There is an outlet mall about 20 minutes away that also offers some dining options, but if you want the mall experience you will need to trek to Aventura (30 minutes) or Boca Town Center (40 minutes).
Cost of living is a bit high, but there is no state sales tax in Florida so that helps a little and there is no tax on food that you buy at the grocery store.
Overall, I'd give Hawks Landing an 8 out of 10, but the surrounding area a 6.
