"Cute Street, Cute Town"
Why is Alameda cool? Because it's an island! I am constantly astounded at the diversity of living situations that the Bay Area offers, and Alameda is no exception. While accessible by car, the entire town is its own separate entity, situated southwest of Oakland in the San Francisco Bay.
The Naval Base gives Alameda a bit of an industrial feel, but Webster Street offers a number of dining options. Available restaurants include East Ocean Seafood, Acquacotta, Fireside Bar & Restaurant, and Otaez Mexican Restaurant (which is delicious, but I was a bit nauseous after eating there).
Webster Street is also home to both the Hawthorne Suites and Days Inn, so you may see business travelers in the area (I don't really see why tourists would come here). All-in-all, this is a cute spot in an unlikely area, but one visit would probably be sufficient.
