"Palisades or Santa Monica?"
This is actually a neighborhood not a street. There is some confusion however, as to whether it belongs to Santa Monica or Pacific Palisades, being right on the border between the two as it is. In many ways it is like the Pacific Palisades, in that the property values are very high here and you have one of the really great public schools in this area, Canyon Elementary School. On the other hand, you get the sort of mix of people we more associate with Santa Monica. You still have rich folks, but these are the kind of entertainment types that we think of in relation to Santa Monica. They also tend to be a bit younger. Furthermore, the crime stats more closely mirror those of Santa Monica as well.
Regardless, you will find lot’s of expensive houses here. As you get near the ocean, you have a swath of open beach with little construction on it. Along the other side of the Pacific Coast highway you will find a series of restaurants and bars including the Hideout, a little bar with a bit of beach bum flare to it. Kind of dive. It used to be a gay bar and still has a bit of an attitude, which is exactly the reason to check it out.
