"Busy Main Drag..."
Like most of the other towns that it runs through, the W. El Camino Real section that is in Mountain View is a busy, highly-trafficked main drag. However, it is slightly more mellow than the Palo Alto/Menlo Park section of the road, perhaps because it is further southwest, closer to the mountains, and further from the 101 and the bay.
Either way, W. El Camino Real offers its fair share of main-draggy (for lack of a better term) business: Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Comfort Inn and Taco Bell are just a few of these. However, the road is also peppered with more interesting restaurants, such as Passage to India and Le Petit Bistro. Perhaps this is characteristic of being a bit further removed from other highways, but in all likelihood it has more to do with being a central part of Northern California.
Bottom line? This is a busy, but highly necessary street in a modest Silicon Valley town.
