"A So-So Neighborhood"

North Hills West is a solidly middle class neighborhood. Its got the sort of wide lanes that characterize it northern neighbor, Granada Hills, but demographically it more resembles its southern neighbor, Van Nuys, being a majority Hispanic neighborhood. The houses here are largely in the Ranch House style dating to the 1950s. Almost all houses are single story with that flat wide look to them. North Hills itself, despite its name is a flat city. The 405 separates North Hills East and West and provides easy access to the rest of LA.

Monroe High School serves the local community. It has a Magnet school program that offers several Advanced Placement courses and is known for its excellent debate team.

Although this is a solid middle class neighborhood, it doesn’t have much in the way of entertainment or individual character. North Hills West is a good place to raise a family but nothing to write home about.
Pros
  • reasonable rents
  • nice houses
  • good schools
Cons
  • no night life
  • fast food culture
  • very bland
Recommended for
  • Families with kids
