West South Temple
"Beautiful architectural scenery in the center of town"
This street has lots of access to stores and restaurants. This also goes right by Temple Square which has a visitors center and other historical Latter-Day Saint buildings. Currently there is work being done on this road just south of temple square, they are rebuilding the ZCMI shoping center. The street has only one lane going in each direction. (Oct 21st 2008) Normally it has 2 lanes both directions. Even though I have been there many times the construction and new traffic patterns made my visit a little more confusing/frustrating than needed.

"Nice but Busy Street"
W S Temple is a busy street in down town Salt Lake. It goes right past Temple Square and is across from a fairly large shopping center. As it goes right past the Mormon Temple (a place of worship for people of the Mormon faith), you are bound to see Mormon missionaries as well as people dressed in Sunday clothes. If you're in the mood for some peaceful time, stop and take a look around and then go shopping at the mall across the street. Beware, however, parking can be expensive.

"The Mormon Vatican"
This area surrounding the temple could be called the Mormon Vatican. All times of day you can see people dress up in their best clothes walking toward the Temple for Worship. There are several L.D.S. Missionaries walking the streets. During church conferences the traffic is awful. Thousand's of people from around the world descend on this area to hear church leaders speak. If you are interested in L.D.S. History there are several parks and buildings to visit. The temple offers a visitor center and a conference center which can be toured by visitors. Only church members are allowed in the Temple, but the grounds are beautiful. They have turned Main Street into a Garden which causes additional traffic delays.
