West Southwood Ln, Oakwood

One of Oakwood's hidden values, right out in the open! A street of relatively modest homes ~ 500,000 or so ~ but most of our houses back up to the grand estates on the neighboring blocks. Since there are only 9 houses on the block, it tends to be one of the quietest streets, also. Two blocks from the library, two blocks from one of the two elementary schools, 5 or 6 blocks to Oakwood's shopping center (on Far Hills Avenue, an old-fashioned city center) 5 blocks to the junior high and high school.

Oakwood is an older, established community with houses and estates dating from about 1900 to 1940. Orville and Wilbur Wright build their estate here - Hawthorn Hill.

City services are excellent. We have a public safety department with a response time of under 2 minutes (you get an insurance rebate with this!), the garbage is picked up from your garage with little carts (big trucks would be too noisy, don't you know?), and the city plows the SIDEWALKS if it snows more than 1". The city is also extremely responsive to it's citizens, and most of us find it easy to complain or suggest improvements to the mayor and city council.
