"Quiet, Dead-End Street with Scenic Views, Backs up to Longview Country Club"
Wildwood Drive is north and west of downtown Longview in the hills above town and is high enough to give us views of the Columbia River and the mountains across the Columbia in the state of Oregon while still being low enough that we are not plagued by the rare falls of snow that can occur during our winter. Wildwood Drive has a very rural feel to it while being easily accessible to areas of shopping, health services and city amenities.
Wildwood Drive parallels the 10th fairway of the Longview Country Club established in 1928 and most of the homes in the area were built in the 50's and 60's. If you like greenery, woodlands and natural beauty, then you will love it here. Most of the houses along the street are single-story ranch-style homes though there are occasional two-story, typical Northwest-style homes sprinkled along the street as well.
As Wildwood Drive is a dead-end there is very little noise from traffic and it’s a great place for couples and small families, retirees and kids. On weekends you might hear some thumping music from the country club's Clubhouse if they are having a live band, but normally that is only a summer-time event and never lasts very late. It creates an entertaining background noise while sitting out of doors on warm summer evenings.
There is nowhere in Longview that cannot be reached within 15 minutes from Wildwood Drive. Grocery shopping is within a mile at either of two major grocers situated across the street from each other on Ocean Beach Hwy and 30th St. Frequently, Wildwood Drive residents will walk to the stores although there is a bus line that stops at the bottom of Longview Country Club Drive. The transit system only runs from 8 AM to 6 PM however.
Overall Wildwood Drive feels quite like a rural area but with easy access to the larger community of Longview. Beautiful evergreen trees grace the neighborhood and the golf course interspersed with many different types of deciduous trees giving visual pleasure year-round. For those of us who live here, there is nothing quite like summer in the Great Northwest and Wildwood Drive seems to us the epitome of all the Northwest has to offer.
