"An older street with new homes popping up"
Yates Street in Denver is an older street which has many homes dating back over 100 years. In this neighborhood there has been a lot of revitalization and Yates Street is no different. On every block you can see a new home mixed within the old, but somehow they don't look out of place. Some of the homes lack garages so there can be a lot of parking on the street.
The north end of the street runs into Berkeley Lake and Park, which is a nice large lake where you can walk around, go fishing, or just enjoy the many birds that come here. The park itself has numerous places to have a picnic and a lot of large shade trees. On the northwest corner is a pretty good sized dog park, and there is also a good sized playground for the kids. Just two streets to the west is Sheridan Blvd and right here is Lakeside Amusement Park. Although it was much better years ago it still has rides and a train that goes around the lake. It is much less expensive than Elitches downtown, but some of the rides don't work and it has a ghost town like feel to it I think.
This street and neighborhood overall has a pretty good mix of new families, young professionals, and retired people. Some of the residents have been here for years, and there are also a lot of new people to the area. Not far away there are many dining choices as well as grocery shopping.
