I love the Hudson River Museum! This is the their website: hrm.org, which should tell you how to get there as well as the programs and exhibits they have going on now. There are lots of fun things for kids to do, so it's a popular place for school trips, but it's fun for adults, too. I like that it's sort of like an art museum and a science museum in one. I remember visiting an exhibition of Tiffany glass in one room, then moving to another part of the museum to learn about the ecosystem of the Hudson River. And the planetarium is very cool! (Apparently they also have a historic house museum from the 1800s, too, which I've never visited, but I would love to one day.)

amandalw1211 Down "on" the river they have the Science Barge, and it is actually very interesting and unique and it happens to be free on I think Wednesday. It's run by a nice old man and the things there are just very creative. It's a very "green" thing.

There is also an old farmhouse right off Tuckahoe Road: Sherwood House http://www.yonkershistory.org/infcal.html " located 340 Tuckahoe Road (at the southbound entrance to the Sprain Brook Parkway) in Yonkers, is one of the few remaining pre-Revolutionary War tenant farmhouses in the New York Metropolitan area. It was built about 1740 by Thomas Sherwood on land leased from Frederick Philipse and was purchased in 1801 by Yonkers’ first physician, Doctor John Ingersoll. "

I really like the Hudson River Museum too- it's unique and nothing like any other museum I've been to. I had to go to a work function there and got to look around- it's a great place.
