"Family-friendly Yorkville Street"
An ideal family neighborhood, this stretch of street through Yorkville is located close to a number of desirable spots, including posh girls' schools Chapin and Brearley (both around East End Avenue), the shopping centre of East 86th Street, with its myriad chain stores and cinemas, and the charming Carl Schurz Park, located near Gracie Mansion along the East River. The buildings here may not be as swank as they are in Carnegie Hill, or along Park Avenue, but these brownstones and reasonably small brick apartment blocks, are perfectly serviceable. The area has a comfortable "neighborhood" feel, with plenty of coffee shops, diners, frozen yogurt shops, and a few standout restaurants, such as French Quatorze Bis on 79th Street and Demarchelier on 86th.
Pros
- good restaurants
- near good schools
- lots of shopping
Cons
- not as pretty
- not much nightlife

"Quiet, Residential Street"
East 83rd Street is another quiet, tree lined street of the Upper East Side that is home to prominent fixtures like the Brearley School for girls which is located on East End Avenue and is often regarded as one of the best private schools in the city.
This street which extends from East End Avenue to Fifth Avenue is populated with stunning townhouses, co-ops, luxury condos and walkups and is essentially residential in character. However East 83rd Street does host many commercial establishments as well like the iconic Lexington Candy Shop which is an old world diner located on 83rd Street and Lexington Avenue which continues to serve retro eats like ice-cream sodas, frosted malts and other typical diner eats and is renowned for its window display of Coca Cola bottles sourced from around the world. Also located on East 83rd Street( at Third Avenue) is Soul Cycle which is the Upper East Side outlet of the immensely popular and trendy spinning studio.
Other popular establishments located on 83rd Street include restaurants like Nica Trattoria and Erminia Italian Restaurant which are choice locations for romantic dinners on the Upper East Side and the Tony’s di Napoli restaurant which serves gargantuan portions and thus is a big hit with families.

"Really great Indian place on this street"
Indian Tandoor-Oven on this street features and affordable array of cuisine that gets plenty of great reviews (also, the restaurant’s website is populated with pictures of the restaurateur with various famous people – apparently us commoners aren’t the only ones who eat there). This place really does have a reputation as the best Indian food on the Upper East Side.

"East 83rd Street"
I'm a sandwich girl and I noticed Peter's Bar and Grill on one my many strolls to a friend's place on nearby 75th street. I wanted my usual chicken cutlet sandwich. Bo was I surprised by how DELICIOUS the food was, and how interesting the entire area was. Not that there was anything particularly remarkable on the street, but it seemed liven-on, not rundown, and the people seemed happy... not rushed.
East 75th street is close to the following metro station: 6 at 77th street, and is accessible to many buses. Foot traffic is light and it is a good neighborhood for everyone.
